"Grounded in Grace" began as a monthly newsletter as I raised support to go on the mission field to Honduras from 2003-2006. When I returned from the field, I continued writing monthly devotionals in topical series to encourage, challenge and share the story of grace for the next seven years. As God called me to write a book and concentrate on Grace Roads Counseling Center, I now send them three times a year. Below is a definition of the phrase "grounded in grace"
“Grounded” is an unusual word. It can be defined as "to establish a foundation or a base for something." However, I found the thesaurus had some interesting synonyms such as stuck, stranded and ship wrecked. I like those definitions even more.
What better place to experience God’s love than to be “shipwrecked” into his grace! In being stranded, I am confronted with my weakness, my stubbornness and my pride. In being shipwrecked, I realize that there is power in weakness and strength that comes from outside of me. I cannot stand on my own power but his power that is working within me.
As Paul confesses in 2 Cor. 12:9 when his request to have his thorn removed is denied by Jesus, “‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.” I hope and pray the your soul will be grounded or "shipwrecked into his grace!"
